Pros: at least they have a fbook page where you get a quicker response than billing and support

Cons: Disconnecting phone access before you get an account

Comments: Had a hard time lately, family member ill and died interstate, mother still interstate on her own. I use my phone to keep in touch with her on her mobile. IInet decide prior to issuing an account that my bill is too high - all my bills have been paid on time, no warning to me, even though I received txts telling me I would get an explanation, I had to ring them to find out what was happening. Actually had to go on fbook and complain before my account was sent. Never again - be warned, you give up your customer rights to access the netphone deal, so they can just disconnect you when ou need the phone the most. Asked them to arrange to disconnect my internet access at the endof the current billing cycle - they cant do it, has tobe right now. Weird - you give them warning you want the service disconnected - they cant do it, but they can disconnect the phone without letting you know and before your account is due. Pathetic.

Pros: low call waiting time

Cons: speak to customer service doesn\'t actually get you anywhere

Comments: Very unhappy with their billing. I still was get charged after canceling my contract and it has taken 5 phone calls and twice that many emails to get a refund... that will take another week to get back into my bank account.

Furthermore, beware the customer service waiver that is part of all their contracts. It releases them from the basic standards all ISPs are supposed to adhere to. They give you the summary of it when you sign up, but not the time to find out in detail what you're really giving up.

Pros: Quick installation, great pre-sales.

Cons: They do not deliver ANYTHING they said they could do to get you to sign up with them.

Comments: I am happy with the connection and very unhappy and displeased with customer service, and billing. Installation of the cable was fast & I was impressed with the man who did it - he was overly helpful and very pleasant. Shame he turned up unannounced because no one telephoned to tell me, instead they sent 8 sms's saying I would be called and no one did. They claimed to have been calling my mobile, and were calling an obsolete number although I had given them the correct one upon sign up. My initial bill was wrong, at an over inflated price. No one could help me to send out a correct bill, instead giving me a $50 credit to shut me up so I would stop calling them. I could not do a 'one off' online payment, even though their system says it is available I kept getting told I was being set up for monthly direct debits which I did not want initially.
Now I have signed up for direct debit and they DO NOT send me email advices when they have removed my money from my account to pay themselves, although it is clearly stated on my account I wish them to do so. The deal I signed up for is to slow to 256 kbps when monthly allowance has been reached BUT on my account it states I will be slowed to 64kbps. To anyone considering their service, the cable is great, but customer service sucks. No one in billing or that can assist you speaks fluent English, it is not their first language and this is obvious as they do not get the way we 'Aussies' speak. You go around and around in circles with nothing being rectified. Your blood pressure will go through the roof when you have to keep telephoning again and again asking for a receipt, or for a correct bill, or for your account to be set up correctly as per the details you signed up for. ALSO, when you lodge an online complaint through their internal 'complaints form', you will get an automated response, but that is all. Your complaint will fall on deaf ears UNTIL you raise the issues with the ombudsman!
ALSO, it is IMPOSSIBLE to be removed from their marketing/spam list. After 12 emailed 'opt out' requests and 4 verbal requests, they keep on spamming, trying to keep on up-selling.

Pros: To change a plan is very easy. Heaps of download limit & pay less for it. 24hr tech service. Been with them for 7 years, give $5 discount.

Cons: Everything is done online, so when internet goes down, you can't logon to list a complaint. Outsourced to India for Tech support.

Comments: Been with Exetel for 7 years. Their plans are cheaper and more download limits than all others. If the internet goes down, it is not Exetels fault, Telstra is the blame every time. I have no problems with them. They even have NBN plans that are cheaper than Telstra etc.

Pros: A local company at Perth

Cons: Very unreliable connection

Comments: The connection is very unreliable. I often have to restart the connect several times per day (not a local infrastructure issue, I live at 1km away from CBD). And for broadband the speed is slow.
The customer service is unhelpful. When we call the service centre complaining about bad connection, we were often advised to talk to marketing people. perhaps marketing people can talk some positives about bad connection?

Pros: cheap and unlimited

Cons: customer service, slow, unreliable, theives

Comments: Well as you can guess this is going to be a negative review of TPG. I have been long serving customer of TPG, during my time with them i had found them to be good value for money, however there have been many a times in which there have been issues with unexpected disconnections, the speed has been decent, service on the other hand has been apalling! i have found TPG to be reluctant to provide any information when you need it, and to get in touch with them over the phone you first have to wait approx 15-25 minutes just to get through to someone, and then deal with (sometimes) moody operators, or operators that are of no help whatsoever. TPG has made it a habbit to make regular false promises and failing to get back to you. My advice is if you do decide to go on with TPG and if you do deal with the operators, once they have your details request to speak to the supervisors - you have a better chance of being helped out (though i cant gaurantee this after now dealing with a couple of them). In January I relocated from Melbourne to Canberra, I paid all my transfer fees and the works, once i had a fixed address i notified TPG and they informed me that there would be a 20 day wait for a technician to come down and activate everything. i thought this was quite a wait, but being a patient person gave them the benifit of the doubt. 3 weeks later i received a phone call from them informing me that the following friday the technician would arrive and do their thing, they also informed me that if i was not present at the time of the technician i would be chaged around $150 for the call out. i then arranged to have the day off work for friday. When friday came, the technician failed to turn up, and TPG failed to notify me of this, so that was a day of work lost. i was then informed that it would be another x2 weeks until a technician could come. I was pretty unhappy as you could probably imagine. so i contacted their TPG team and informed them that this was unnacceptable, and after being handballed from one operator to the next over a period of days (with each phone call averaging around 45-60 minutes) i began to get furious, i informed them that i was unhappy with their service, especially as they were not delivering anything (thus effecting work and uni) and that i wanted to terminate. i also requested a refund of my transfer fees and to not have to pay the remaining 6 months as i cannot wait forever for their connection to go ahead. to cut this last bit short, it has been over 2 months now and after countless calls to them (because they never follow up and call you back), i have been told they will not refund my tranfer fees. I am now appealing this and will seek legal advice, this company are theives, they are unreliable, and are liars. the number of false promises they have made to me is mind blowing, and i cannot begin to fathom as to how discraceful they are. my advice, find a company that provides what you pay for and doesnt steal your money. find a company that has operators that do call you back and follow through with what they say they will. this company are scumbags!

Pros: Support rings back

Cons: Lots of connection problems, unreliable service

Comments: Unhappy because of amount of times I have had to call support in 3 weeks of trying to get a decent service going. Regularly having to power cycle multiple times as internet drops out (along with voip phone). Annoyed at being billed incorrectly and being slowed down as I was not put on the correct plan. Annoyed at phone number changing after it had been connected. Annoyed at internet connection changing our phone number again.

Pros: Great value with large download limits

Cons: None

Comments: Exetel offers amazing download limits (off peak especially) at very low cost. Cost for additional data is also very cheap at $1 per Gbyte.
Having had both residential and business accounts with Exetel, I have never had any reliability issues and connection speed has always been as advertised if not better.
Exetel webpage is easy to use and allows you to perform all account management functions without calling an operator. A wide range of add-ons and extras are available such as SMS, VoIP, wireless.
Exetel are great value for money and are highly recommended.
