Pros: Well known provider, staff are quite friendly

Cons: Took an absolute ridiculous amount of time for our connection to go live

Comments: Although this company has ok priced plans and reasonable download speeds, the service I have recieve was abysmal. It took 3 months for our connection to go live. Countless calls were made to the organisatoin, numerous days off taken for technincians (with nobody turning up!!!) and when our connection finally was approved, no form of compensation was offered for the headache we had to go through just to get connected. I would not recommend this provider to anyone and wouldn't sign up with them again, if I were paid to... I'm kinda wishing they had lost their case against the movie biz, now...

Pros: Their Accounts Dept are useless....

Cons: It\'s IMPOSSIBLE to contact them at all.

Comments: Two years ago, AAnet's service was reliable, value for money, and staff were helpfull. Initially I was happy enough to get a 2nd service for my church.
Earlier this year AAnet upgraded my plans without my consent, at a cost increase of $10 & $15 /month. They claimed they were discontinuing a number of services. They didn't! (at least not in the case of 1 of my accounts. NOW that I want to go back to the 256/64 plan that I signed up for (it's only email), I've got to pay a plan change ($25). On the other account they "upgraded" me to a 4Gb/month 512/256 plan at a higher cost than they offered their 5Gb 1500/256 plan. Can you speak to them about any of this? - NO!...
I regularly have issues with the accounts dept, usually regarding billing, you can't call them. If you want to pay a bill but can't access the internet (not that they've ever replied to an email!), forget it - their accounts dept. apparently can't afford a telephone line... When you do find a number (1300880692) it wont be from their website - their recorded phone promts will tell you that they won't speak with you - send them an email.(Not that they read these either, and I've never had any response!)

I've had such a gut full of over charges and credit card screw-ups from these clowns that I am now changing Providers, but I intend to raise my complaints with the ombudsman - maybe they'll respond to his office.

Don't Touch them with a Barge Pole!!!

Pros: Always up (no downtime)

Cons: Behind a proxy for connection, ports blocked, Google problems, Instant Messaging problems, No FTP at all, 12 month contract

Comments: Behind a proxy for the connection: We were not informed about this on their website. Told we were getting a static IP address, instead we get a shared static IP address (because of the proxy).

Proxy causes problems with Google searches (checks to validate if we are human). Just an inconvenience.

Slow speeds for what we pay for (around 100KB/s. we should get at least 150KB/s in a speed test).

Ports Blocked: Need to use port 80 (HTTP method) for some instant messaging programs.

FTP does not work AT ALL. This is a major inconvenience.

12 month contract with all of these problems.

Technical support, whilst not contacted yet, does not allow phone support for these problems (I was going to call the other day about these issues). The fact that I am not allowed to call for these issues indicates poor technical support to start off with, as I have never been with an ISP in the past that hasn't allowed phone technical support for these issues. Phone support is just easier for both parties, as there is instant feedback, and not everything will work at first.

Whilst, as I said, I haven't got onto tech support yet for these issues (because I can't ring), these issues should never exist in the first place, and are a first impression.

We = I am one of many users for this connection. My dad pays for it, but I am the heaviest internet user in the household.

Pros: too much space

Cons: too little space

Comments: I'm only writing this review to balance out the fake ones that you can guess who entered. You can tell that they're fake from the praises of aanet's customer service. I've been with aanet for 5 years (and looking for a change ASAP). Initially I was happy with them they were cheap and reliable, but customer service didn't exist even then. The reason for my leaving is that they put me on a more expensive plan without me requesting it. I bundled my long distance calls and another time recommened aanet to a new customer and in both cases they only discounted the first couple of months instead of until the expiry of the contract. Someone else mentioned the extra-extra charge for moving and the $20 for a new password - it's all true. Stay away from them!

Pros: reliable connection

Cons: dishonest money grabbers

Comments: Before I moved houses, I clicked on the aanet webpage agreeing that it will cost me $100 extra. After this the following charges appeared on my credit card account: on the 19/12/07 $174.90 and another transaction on the same day for $65 and on the 17/12/07 there was a transaction of $29.90.
I was explained that as my original contract hadn't been expired they charged me the $100 PLUS the joining fee of $145. So I paid $245 for staying with them in the new place. Now I wanted to check if this was in the fine print, but couldn't log on to my account. My password seemed to have changed. To get a new one issued I have to pay $20. I could be accused of forgetting my password, but it was written down and it still works for my webmail. They can't be reached by phone (I challenge you to find a number on the website) and they take forever by email. My friend was supposed to get a discount on his account as a commission for promoting aanet to me, but after 3 months they stopped applying the credit. I could go on, but this much should be enough.

Pros: none

Cons: customer support

Comments: this review just like kevin's is really about exetel - the one appearing as a criticism of aaNET is NOT correct and has been altered by someone
but here goes, and Aida and I say it again, exetels 'customer service' is nothing short of farcical - their idea of a complaining 'cutomer' is to .... terminate their agreement! yep, true!! DO NOT sign up for this guff ladies n gents

Pros: difficult to be positive

Cons: customer service

Comments: customer service is the worst I have ever experienced in an Australian company since my days in either India or more recently the UAE - it appears that departments have no contact with each other all, they insist on you completing a problem ticket while responded to you by email (not accepting replies that way), close 'tickets' without any request for customer satisfaction and ABSOLUTELY refuse to either call you to resolve anything or even provide you with a number for you to call them! automated responses back to your email are the most commonly used means to 'resolve' problem tickets. Incorrect invoices have also been recorded and STILL not rectified, bandwidth figures do not support their advertising - I will be changing from this most unprofessional isp at the end of this current charging period - disgraceful

Pros: Great service, fast connection, cheap.

Cons: Um... hard to find things to complain about.

Comments: aaNet is the best - their customer service is excellent, the forums are friendly and helpful and the connection is consistant and lightning fast. Haven't had a dropout in 5 months - and that dropout went for 10 minutes.

Cons: Nil

Comments: I rated the presale info down a little because of their current website and the amount of time that it has taken for them to get it fixed. I believe that the new site is due out very shortly. Otherwise, things are great.

Pros: Open, honest, friendly.

Cons: nothing worth mentioning.

Comments: I don't like features "included" as that implies cross-subsidy. Bundled pricing are also difficult to compare and are non-transparant. I like the no frills, user pays system with a very good value for money like aaNet offers currently. And now that they have taken over DATACO, I hope with the economy of scale the prices becomes even more competitive.
A business that also keeps their promises. Bravo.
