Pros: Got free Wifi modem at join up.
Cons: SIgned me up to wrong plan and only discounted what I owed after I went to cancel service.

I've been with Optus for nearly four years. The first 2 years were a nightmare. They signed me up to the wrong broadband plan, which I only discovered after I received a bill for over $500. I then got a discount only after I said I'd rather pay the cancellation fee than stay with a dishonest company.
After that fiasco I had serious drop out issues and we spent many phone calls being told that the issue was with our phone and modem (which they supplied.) After buying new phones and receiving a new replacement modem, we still had serious issues. They tested the line several times and again insisted it wasn't their issue. After again stating I would seek a new provider they finally sent someone out who discovered that the line was degraded where it connected to the house and fixed it. Now our phone works but the internet still drops out. We were then informed it was our modem but that now we were past warranty and would need to buy our own. After stating that we had only recently received this modem, we were told that the warranty started from the date we received the first modem and that it was no longer their issue.
I looked for a new provider and after becoming confused for choice decided to stick it out and replace the modem myself. Things went along swimmingly until one day I discovered that our data usage had shot up to an allowance of 1000GB from the 30GB we had originally. After calling to find out why, we were informed that out $129 bundle that we originally paid for the 30GB and free calls had now expanded to 1000GB. That was fine, but I thought a little sad that they didn't bother to tell us so we could downgrade and save money since we obviously didn't need that much. I downgraded the plan myself making sure they still included the $5 world saver we had which saved us a large amount of money on our overseas calls. The next months bill came and it wasn't on their and we were charged at a ridiculous higher rate. After again complaining I was told they had no record of this and that although they could see I was always on that plan, they couldn't find record of me stating I wanted to continue with this and would only add it again the present month. Next bill came and it was still not on the bill. I had kept the details of my earlier call, but they still refused to refund and correct the earlier month. It took four months for it to be added back on. Finally this month I receive a letter stating that they will now be increasing all the plan prices. My plan is going up $8 and I will now have to pay for 13/1300 calls. Call me a slow learner but I've finally had enough of it and I came across this site which is making finding a new provider much easier. Good bye Optus you bas****s! Next step will be removing all family mobiles from your service... Thanks for the rant, I needed that!
