Exetel vs Swoop - Which is the best NBN internet provider?

Exetel and Swoop represent different approaches to NBN, with Exetel often seen as a no-frills option for those prioritising raw speed, even if it means less flexibility. Swoop, on the other hand, is a more recent player with a focus on competitive pricing across a range of plans, often appealing to budget-conscious users. Reviews suggest Exetel can be a bit hit or miss with customer support, while Swoop generally gets good marks for its straightforward service. Ultimately, it’s a choice between Exetel's established, speed-focused offering and Swoop's value-driven, newer market presence.

Exetel launched its first broadband service in 2004 and built a name as a low-cost, no-frills ISP. Since 2021 it has been owned by ASX-listed Superloop, which runs the network behind it, while Exetel continues as its own value-focused brand. Swoop Broadband is an ASX-listed Australian internet provider that runs its own fixed wireless network of more than 470 towers alongside reselling nbn. The retail brand started life in regional Victoria in the 1990s and now offers nbn 25 through to nbn 1000, plus FTTP and Opticomm where the local infrastructure is in place. Swoop also runs business internet and mobile plans, and was named a 2026 ProductReview award winner in the Internet Service Provider category.
