Pros: None

Cons: Scumbag staff lie to older customers

Comments: My stepmother who was happily getting 24mbit on ADSL (exchange is on their street) was switched to NBN12 when their suburb was moved over to HFC. They told her she had to sign up to a 24 month contract (despite their website showing 6 month or monthly contracts). Now she's a few months in and only getting 6-7mbit on a 12mbit plan. Obviously speeds vary, but it's a real kick in the guts to go from 20+mbit down to 1/4 of that, during quiet periods, not even during the evening. I called up support who told me "why don't you just pay more" and "7mbit is within parameters". They want $300 to get out of this awful contract, despite not providing anywhere near the advertised speeds, even during quiet periods. Support staff were no help at all, and blamed her for not knowing that there were other contract options. Disgusting behaviour from their scummy sale staff who prey on people who don't know there are options. The second their contract is up, they're moving to Aussie Broadband. Never again iiNet/TPG, what crooks! No wonder the ACCC keeps suing you!

Pros: Nil

Cons: unreliable, Dishonest and poor customer service.

Comments: Terrible service, constant issues with internet dropping out or not getting speed that was promised. I have spent 8hrs on the phone over a four week period to fix my internet which they took a week to fix and then same problem again 2 weeks later NO INTERNET. When I told them I was cancelling my month to month contract because I was not happy with their service I was promised a months credit and credit for all my downtime if I stayed with them. I said ok but if it keeps happening I will change providers. Two weeks later no internet again and when I called they said they will get back to me within 24 to 48 hours to let me know when someone will come out to fix it. I told them that's not good enough and cancel my service. It took 2 hours on the phone just tocancel my internet with them. Then I received an email telling me that they are only giving me a $9.50 credit followed by another email saying that my new invoice is due by the 30th May for $90. I can definitely say that they won't be getting any payment from me for the above amount. This company lacks customer service, honesty and integrity. All they worry about is ripping people off. When I was on adsl I was with Optus and stayed with them for 15 years, When nbn became available I chose iinet because they sponsor the Hawthorn football club so as a loyal Hawthorn nember I chose iinet. What a big mistake that was. Bottom line is, If you want reliable internet and good customer service then iinet is not for you

Pros: Not much

Cons: Horrendous Customer Service

Comments: I'd been using iinet for probably 15 years or more in total (starting from Satellite, to ADSL, then NBN), and I was always extremely happy with their service. The connections were reliable, and on the rare occasion that I needed their support, I was always speaking to somebody competent and willing to help. I happily recommended iinet to anybody who asked. However, over the past year or so, things seem to have changed drastically. Over the past few months, our NBN connection had had several dropouts. Sometimes only brief, but sometimes for hours or days, but the biggest change was in the quality of their support agents. In Feb 2019, we had an extended dropout. After waiting for a few hours, I eventually phoned tech support. They started by forcing me to go through the usual rigmarole of restarting the modem, factory reset, running tests, etc. After spending an hour or more on the phone, they said they would have to report the fault to NBN Co, and that it would be fixed within 24-48 hours. So, I waited. After 2 more days of no Internet, I sent an email. No response. I also tried their online form. No response. I eventually tried phoning again. I was once again forced to go through the troubleshooting rigmarole, and once again wasted more than an hour of my time. The agent eventually said the same thing. NBN fault report. 24-48 hours. So, I waited again. After a few more days of no connection (now about a week in total), I’d had enough. I decided to ditch iinet and move to Telstra. Then, to make this bad experience even worse, they said I would have to pay the cancellation fee. I said that I shouldn’t have to pay a fee, since it was them who had failed to provide a service for a week or more. But they insisted, and said that I hadn’t given them sufficient opportunity to rectify the problem before cancelling. They passed me from one person to another on the phone, wasting another couple of hours of my time, but in the end I got nowhere. They even acknowledged that the 2 different support agents that I had spoken to had neglected to log the faults with NBN, which is why the problem hadn't been fixed. But it didn’t matter, and they went ahead and charged the cancellation fee anyway. I really can’t believe how a once outstanding company has turned into such a poor quality, money-grabbing operation in such a short period of time. Such a shame. I will warn everybody away from iinet from now on, and I will also be filing a complaint with the appropriate government bodies.

Pros: Sometimes the Internet works

Cons: EVERYTHING

Comments: MISERABLE service. The WORST!!

I was with iiNet for a year. The Internet they provided was patchy and dropped out regularly. Setting up with them was a nightmare - they took several weeks to even send me the modem, and then it was the wrong kind. Talking with them on the phone is torture - they refuse to do anything to help resolve issues that they've created.

My breaking point was when I tried to move house with them. They didn't keep setup appointments, wasted tons of my time, kept me on hold forever with customer service - and I still don't have Internet!

Just do yourself a favour and never, ever, ever try and deal with this company! So many wasted hours of my life I will never get back, just trying to get Internet...

Pros: Good internet WHEN working

Cons: Tech support, Fake advertising, poor service and communication.

Comments: NBN FTTN Internet.

Connection phase was horrible wasted 2 weeks of my life I'll never get back. Call Centre said Techie was coming to house to install line, but he never came. Some unspecified reason but for some reason I was not informed. So lost a day without pay for this. Call centre person was able to schedule an apptmt next week and I DON'T NEED TO BE THERE. SO WHY SAY I DID NEED TO BE THERE!!!!!

Tech Support was helpful in helping me setup modem.

Internet works for 4 Months, then a blackout cuts power but the modem won't work.

Call tech support hes helpful run tests etc. modem not working. Says he will send new one fine thanks.

4 Business days later no modem. check toolbox, a Supervisor had CANCELED NEW MODEM- not enough troubleshooting!!!
Waited 4 Bus days for nothing!!
Call Tech Support. "Sorry Supervisor canceled new Modem"
Resubmitted but nothing yet!!

7 days without NBN and Phone! DO NOT sign with IINET/TPG. I'd wager Telstra NBN would be better!!

Pros: Quirky marketing ads

Cons: Everything else about this terrible service

Comments: Literally unusable, cuts out every hour or so and when it is up its unbearably slow, I’d be lucky if a webpage opens within 10mins, I’ve missed submitting a few assessments and important emails just waiting for to go through and often times i have to run down to the nearest cyber cafe just to do so, when i call them up, all they do is offer me a more expensive deal for what I’m guessing its the same trash witj a fancier name to it without actually answering my answer. Actually I’m the idiot here, why am I paying for a service I cannot use? I suppose funding the support crew to buy themselves some how to dummys guidebook to customer service could be considered charitable work?

Pros: They provide consumers what bad looks like

Cons: No internet speed, drop outs over 100 times a month

Comments: The worst, worst, worst internet speeds, service you can imagine. After 6 months of battling, iinet doing nothing proactively to help us, us spending in excess of $250 in private technician fees at iinets request to find iinet has a faulty line connected to our house, they totally deny our claim for compensation.

If you want dial up speeds, uncompassionate, unfair customer service then iinet have made a business out of it. Literally, over 100 service drop outs each month, speeds of 1mb at best when connected over 6 months and they do nothing but laugh at you.

Never choose iinet. They don't care at all about their customers

Pros: Their advertising

Cons: Customer service and connection

Comments: Moved into new office space (to floors down in the same building), IInet communicated poorly over who would take responsibility for the physical connection. No issue paid an additional $525 to get a third party in to make the connection.

Somehow they gave use a new landline number and disconnected the business number we had been using for four years. Honest mistake I'm sure. After contacting them to get it changed back because our clients were getting a disconnection notice, the customer service officer explained that it was likely our fault but no real explanation why.

He then huffs and puffed about changing it back and that it would be a couple of days, I highlighted again that it was our business number and our lively hood. This had no real impact as he put me on hold for 30 minutes straight.

I asked to speak with his manager hoping to move things along, this made no difference and asked to speak to his manager which I was told they were to busy to speak with me and that they may get back to me in a week (never happened). So phone line was reconnected after two days great.

One week later they disconnect the internet connection; I contact them again after being on hold I am told they it looks like a DNS issue with the number they had reconnected and they their team didn't start for another three hours, it was 9 am.

I have now had to send my team of four home while I wait for them to come back to me.

Once again the customer service officer was not exactly rude but just sounded like he had better things to be doing.

Pros: Good advertising

Cons: Internet & support service

Comments: Really intermittent internet reception. It used to be good but then "somehow" they have dropped the quality a lot in the last year. Loading a webpage takes minutes. We can never watch movies without it stopping every few minutes.
Maybe they could sort it out if it wasn't such a HUGE wait time on the phone! It is so disappointing when all one gets is such poor internet AND service. All iiNet care about is getting you to sign up.
For internet speed, Australia is rated in the same league as Mongolia, Belarus & Mexico.

Pros: Great advertising pulling power

Cons: To many to list

Comments: My experience with iiNet has been terrible with a VDSL connection.
This company, internet speed and customer service is so appalling it’s hard to believe they remain in business. Promised speeds of around 25mbs are usually around 6 and regularly drops so low (below 1) that I can’t watch Netflix on low res & can’t stream Spotify. The installation guy did a test AFTER installing and said “oh looks you’re only going to get about 6mbs” If we actually got that all the time then maybe it would be almost ok.

Internet stopped working & I spent over an hour on hold before speaking to a customer rep and they don’t have an Australian based call centre. They couldn’t lodge a fault outside of hrs so I had to go through the process again during the day with different answers from those I spoke with. And most of them had a bad attitude. I guess that’s what happens to staff dealing with countless disappointed and dissatisfied customers all day. Took over a week to get a technician out. And the fault was at their end. Without internet for almost a month and they offered no refund or credit.

These guys are terrible. All talk and no action Don’t get sucked in by the advertising as what is promised and what you get are poles apart. Run away!

Pros: been lied too

Cons: blames customer for faultys

Comments: being as after more than 5 months of a service faults iiNet only thought that 2 months credit is good enough, where a service is faulty with that the ACCC requirement is provide a repair, replacement, refund, compensation or cancellation, depending on the circumstances if the phone or service fails to meet one or more of the consumer guarantees .

As the equipment was replaced fixing the faulty, thus proving that the equipment was faulty and only given only 2 months credit and then close the complaint.
But as you iiNet, causing 5 plus months stuffing a customer round, only worth two months credit, then I am going to be cancelling my service's. For iiNet fail the ACCC requirement is provide a repair, replacement, refund, compensation or cancellation, depending on the circumstances if the phone or service fails to meet one or more of the consumer guarantees as from the ACCC web site.

Which my recorded paper work with iiNet show from the start of the contract we had issue with the number of contacts with iiNet in regards to this servicer and iiNet kept closing the cases blaming the customer.

Pros: None

Cons: Too many to list

Comments: Service is appalling. It appears as if they are playing games with customers - I called up to inquire as to why my internet was intermittent and by the end of the call I had no internet connection at all, a few days later, no phone line. 15 days later, 7 calls over 300mins later, no fix and no plan on how to fix. Every time I call up they say they will lodge a fault and have someone call me. No one calls. When I call back, they say they will lodge a fault and they don't know what happened with the last call and thof y will call me back. This has happened so may times it feels like a joke. The service is nonexistent, they way the call centres say sorry repeatedly but don't actually do anything differently is appalling and is bad human behaviour. iiNet are a deplorable company and I would not want anyone else to go through this experience. It causes a lot of stress and anxiety and is very upsetting. iiNet are thieves - they take money and do not provide the service/product that you pay for. In 2017 it is inconceivable that internet services can not be provided with consistency and that a company that advertises as friendly and helpful is noting but. iiNet are deceptive and stressful to deal with.

Pros: Used to be good. No positives

Cons: Worst tech support, South Africa call center have no idea what they are doing.

Comments: I've been with iiNet for 12 years. They used to be the best - fastest speeds, best tech support. Now... Let's just say, I'm about to switch to another ISP. When you call tech support or billing, you get someone in Cape Town South Africa (oh and the wait time is usually 1 hour). They are pathetic. They have no idea what they are doing. One time, a tech issue, the operator tried to sell me product instead of fixing the issue. All they care about is making a sale. TPG (the owners of iiNet) are the reason for all of this. They only care about money. iiNet used to be about service, not anymore. Apart from all of that, the speed is not what it used to be. I was getting between 18-20Mbps (awesome), now I'd be lucky to get 10Mbps. Even with a brand new (2 month old) PC, the speed issue has not changed. I believe it's due to them cost cutting and not putting money in to upgrading infrastructure like they used to (before TPG took over). I would NOT recommend iiNet to anyone. Worst service in Australia.
